Leidsegracht Advocaten was established in 1999 by attorneys Th. R. Bremer, W.C. van Manen, W.P. Scheltema and H.C.S. Warendorf, senior partners at, respectively, Stibbe, Nauta, Clifford Chance and Trenité Van Doorne. Each of the partners is well respected and has a strong professional track record. In 2004, attorneys G.J.T.M. van den Bergh, A.N. Stoop and L. Bakers joined the founders of Leidsegracht Advocaten, after which the firm strengthened its position as a ‘niche’firm, focusing on commercial law and the cultural sector. In the years that followed, attorneys Gabriëlla C. De Rooij, Berber Brouwer, Saar van Waegeningh, Gitta van der Meer and Marije Roeloffzen joined the practice of Leidsegracht Advocaten.

Providing an alternative to the increased formality and rising hourly rates found in many large law firms, modestly sized Leidsegracht Advocaten has been able to organise its practice with a greater degree of independence, working on the basis of a client-focused, can-do approach. A team including two generations of attorneys continues to ensure an inspiring mix of knowledge, experience, and clients within the practice.

Each of the specialists currently employed at Leidsegracht Advocaten has extensive experience as an attorney, allowing them to act as a direct contact for our clients based on their particular specialisation. Leidsegracht Advocaten currently maintains a varied practice, focusing in particular on the following legal areas:
- Intellectual Property Law, Advertising and Media Law;
- Law of Obligations/Liability Law;
- Business Law;
- Labour Law/Civil Service Law.

The firm currently employs 8 attorneys, all of whom have broad experience as both legal consultants and trial lawyers. In 2004, the Amsterdam Balie Bulletin wrote that Leidsegracht Advocaten “[has] more in-house trial experience than the average office of a top Anglo-American law firm based in the Netherlands.”
